From an abundance of colored dots to abstract black and white lines, Sombrero explores the play of shadows and lights. The expression of a fantastic landscape where the bodies of the dancers split, go beyond themselves, and get swallowed up by their own up obscure reflections. With Sombrero, the video show was as real and present as the stage show, conjuring up marvelous virtual worlds, and combining them with bodies in movement. The piece makes several nods to the Western genre and silent movie era, and is carried along by the texts of Claude Ponti. Sombrero is a constant to-and-fro between Chinese shadow theater and dark shadows.
