Codex built upon, and carried on from, Codex Serafinianus, a highly singular scientific encyclopedia with strange drawings, written in an untranslatable language, a fascinating magic textbook setting out the laws of a totally topsy-turvy world ... spawning the mutant creatures, microbes and imaginary silhouettes that populate Philippe Decouflé's piece. Images bouncing here and there, as they follow on each other's heels, with imaginary plants, weird and wonderful animals, imaginary plants and “living vegetables”. A hallucinatory journey where human beings with webbed members move alongside multiform microbes.
