Philippe Decouflé has always been close to cinema, with the silver screen sometimes acting as the supporting fabric or reference to his works, both in terms of content and form. Therefore, it was entirely natural that he direct the opening ceremony for the 50th anniversary of the Cannes film Festival, with a ballet taking us back to the beginnings of silent movies in black and white. Flickering lights paying tribute to the first steps of an emerging art. But, as always, in keeping with the moment, there is play and interplay of frames, images and reflection.
