During the 1998 Football World Cup, based on an initiative of the City of Saint-Denis, where is company is located, DCA set up a circus in an empty lot near the housing estates of Bel Air and Franc-Moisin.
Around the big top, where each evening a new version of Triton (created in 1990) was performed, the company built a bunch of small shacks, in the style of carnival side shows from ages past. Each stand featured a unique attraction: “The Exploradrome,” the “Nutella Spreading Machine,” the “Diesel Photo Booth”... You could also find a radio studio in the drainpipes, called “The Voice of Triton,” a lady minding the public toilets putting on her own show, the “Maison du Mère” and three restaurants run by women's groups from around the neighborhood. It was like a little city out of a dream.
The only things missing were a parade of child-barkers, wild animal tamers, jugglers, magicians, and a cardboard zoo on wheels...
